I’ve finally gotten around to create a Patreon page!

www.patreon.com/ili104

I tend to keep posts about myself and general interaction to a minimum because I want people to come here for my art, not my ramblings. That does not mean that I don’t appreciate what you guys have done for me. I check for comments and shares daily and they make me all fuzzy inside. It’s just that I want to become known as an illustrator, not a marketer.

Stupid pride aside, and being perfectly honest with you – I don’t like self-promotion. At all. When money enters the equation things have a tendency to become ugly really quickly, and I’m sure there are people out there that see this post and only see greed. So let me tell you where I’m coming from.

Creating a Patreon is something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time, but I’ve been holding off because I didn’t consider myself to be good enough. I still don’t think I’m great, but my life situation looks a bit different now.

I’m standing at a crossroad in life where one path leads me to the path of grown-ups: a time-consuming job, with no spare time to talk about. The other path is one where I’m able to continue painting – doing this. I don’t expect to make a living wage doing this, frankly, but anything is better than nothing and there is no way I can keep this up as things are looking.

If you like what I’ve been doing, and want me to be able to keep doing it please consider supporting me on Patreon. For 3$5$ or 7$ Becoming a patreon gives you access to the original .psd files, full size versions of the paintings that I haven’t uploaded anywhere, and a say in what or whom I paint next.

This basically ensures that I can keep posting 3-4 paintings a month, like I’ve done this and last year, and if things go well maybe even increase the pace.

Something new is that I’ve gone out and bougth a video editing software, which allows me to upload the videos of me painting to YouTube, like the Asuka painting I uploaded this friday: youtu.be/oXOQ-gW3wWI. I’m also considering expanding into doing art tutorials where I dissect paintings I’ve done. Explaining what went wrong, and muse about potential solutions. I can’t tell you how to do things correctly – I’m not there yet myself – but maybe I could help you not commit the same mistakes I have.

Long post!

tl;dr if you like what I’ve been doing then please consider supporting me to ensure I can continue. If you don’t want to or don’t have the money I don’t hold it against you at all. We cool. Any amount counts, and I hope you’ll get something useful out of the deal as well.

I like they way you're thinking =) I'm exactly like that myself, i don't really like self promoting and i usually think that, if i don't get any money / comments or support, it's just that i still need to improve.

I've just been posting my art mostly on twitter since it's my main social media that i use to speak with my friends and then some of them told me to post my art on instagram / DA too cause they use those more when it comes to check drawing and things. Most of them don't even know i can take some commissions cause i just prefere when ppl comes to you for your art asking for one instead of see the ad and wondering if that could suit them.

Long things short, i feel like being in the same boat as you xD i'll be following you from now on, hoping the great things you deserve come to you =) you're pretty good, keep up the good work ! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
